Singles
- The 32 players would be broken into 8 groups of 4 each.
- Each group play full round robin – Total of 3 rounds
- Based on the standing within groups, Group1 will play Group8 (1plays4, 2plays3, etc…). They would merge to form new Group1. Group2 will play Group7 (1plays4, 2plays3, etc…). They would merge to form new Group2. Group3 will play Group6 (1plays4, 2plays3, etc…). They would merge to form new Group 3. Group4 will play Group5 (1plays4, 2plays3, etc…). They would merge to form new Group4. – Total of 1 round.
- Based on the standing within the new groups, new Group1 will play new Group4 (1plays8, 2plays7, etc…). They would merge to form new Group1. New Group2 will play new Group3 (1plays8, 2plays7, etc…). They would merge to form new Group2. . – Total of 1 round.
- Based on the standing within the new groups, new Group1 will play new Group2 (1plays16, 2plays15, etc…). They would be merged. . – Total of 1 round.
- Based on the standing they would be seeded to play Knock Out, round of 32, round of 16, and Quarter finals. . – Total of 3 rounds.
- The Winners of Quarter Finals move to group A to play semi-finals, finals and position round for 3rd and 4th the others move to group B to play semi-finals, finals and position round for 3rd and 4th.
Each Game Best of 8 Sets or 25 points (9th Set allowed in case of a tie) with 45 (40 + 5) Minute time limit
Round of 16 and 8 – 1 Game each, each game of 8 boards or 25 points (9th board in case of tie after 8 boards) 1 Hour Time Limit on each Game
Round of 4 plays Semis, and Finals best of 3 games (No time Limit)

A technical committee will be introduced by the match coordinator at the beginning of the tournament. The technical committee will compose of Chief Referee, Chief Organizer and Match Coordinator. The committee can be tapped by the player’s before/during/after a match/s for reporting and getting a resolution for any issues/disputes that may arise. Match Coordinator will be the final and overriding authority in case of any unresolved issues and disputes.
The format adopted for the tournament will not be altered at any stage of the tournament under any circumstances.
All Matches will be completed on January 26, 2008.
Player not reporting at the venue within five minutes after the time buzzer is started for a SRR round may be given a walkover against him/her.
Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited before or during a match. The players participating under the influence of alcohol will be debarred from the tournament.
Chief Referee will appoint referees for Semifinal and Final for Group-A knockout matches. Such an appointment is based on the availability of knowledgeable and non-controversial (from past experience) players. Chief Referee will use his/her due diligence and judgment in assigning the referees.
The Lunch Time will be 1 hour. However it is recommended that players have their lunch if they complete their matches ahead of time. |
